Google Standing WITHOUT posting to Google
A while back, I read a write-up that explained how to obtain a good google status without ever submitting your website to their distribution forms. Just like you, I was kind-of shocked by this statement so I chose to give it a take to.
Initially, I used to publish my site constantly to Google but soon realized the magnitude of my failure. What that means is the level of links (yousite.com) listed on other sites that are related to yours! The more sites that link to you, the greater your acceptance!

There are various sites that have a great google standing and have specific rules to whom they'll recognize inside their resource sections. They will establish that your site should be listed within Google and your site must be listed within the top 5 sites, if they key in your site in the google research bar.
Here's The Theory:
Naturally you need all sites to link to you, specially the people who already have a great google rating because that means that your site will soon be picked-up by google. A number of people only make an effort to get links from the websites but just remember, all of us had to start somewhere.
My advice is to do as much link deals as you possibly can and especially be sure that each site is particularly categorized by their content. You'll get penalized for having one page filled with links to websites that don't connect with each other.
Yet another little 'Timbit', try to keep your pages to 1-20 links within each site. Once you've 20 links, put in a key to your (PAGE 2) and continue your resources like that.

Ok, and so I went only a little off topic regarding this short article but you'll see how every thing is connected together. Once google begins ranking your site, you don't need to leave any stone left un-turned.
